Note that Zanga was first passed the post, but an objection was lodged by Lord Fitzwilliam and his filly was awarded the race, with Zanga placed last. The winner made her debut on 5th May 1789 when she won a 1 ½ race from Bolus. She then won the St Leger despite being second passed the post, winning on an objection after Zanga was disqualified for jostling. Later in the season she was beaten into second place at Malton. After winning on her 4 year old debut at York, she subsequently finished second at York and again at Lincoln in a prestigious King’s Plate. As a five year old she was beaten in a King’s Plate race at Richmond before winning a £50 race at Wakefield, rounding off her season with a poor show behind Young Traveller at Doncaster in the Doncaster Cup. | Over Round N/A |
